What Now?

For my first blog on Townhall.com, I thought I would ponder on what we conservatives can do in the next 2 years to ensure that we break the establishment that has brought a precarious situation upon us. First, we must make a statement by punishing those who have bloviated and misled this country, all the while ensuring we have the knowledge base to perform in the future. Therefore, my first blog will be a top 10 list of decisive measures we can take to ensure we stop the progressive hate machine, drain the liberal fund machine, and create new, smart, and determined conservative voters.

1. Ensure we write our Republican/conservative Senators and Congressmen and compel them to give the Obama administration the same gratitude that our Democratic/liberal Senators and Congressmen gave the Bush administration. Make the Democratic Senate and Congress as ineffective as they made the Republican Senate and Congress. We must make sure the Democrats do not appear as a uniting entity in the U.S.

2. Boycott ABC, CBS, and NBC. Don't just boycott their news programs, boycott all their programming. Give up that sitcom you love for the better of the country. Watch Fox News and the Fox Channel for entertainment. CNN is acceptable for those who need a second view of things. PBS should be made to look like a waste of taxpayers dollars (which it already is, but we need to drive the point home-Sesame Street isn’t the only children’s show out there). We need to quit feeding our dollars into the liberal fund machine. This goes for newspapers as well.

3. Along with number 2, we need to really look at our Hollywood movies. Any movie that we even think about going to see should be researched, and if any of the actors, producers, directors, etc., are heavily fueling the liberal fund machine or are just flaming liberal activists, we should boycott them. Hollywood pundits have no qualification for the bloviating they subject the rest of the nation to. Granted this will seriously limit our viewing opportunities, but it is going to take pain and sacrifice to break the liberal fund machine. The music industry must also be scrutinized.

4. Get out. We must get out, protest, go door to door, and expose the progressive hate machine. The millions of ignorant voters who decided to bring blue back to the country have no idea who and what they just voted for. We can not allow this to happen anymore. The Democrats want everyone to vote, because most people would vote for them and their "free handout" governing style. They have no idea what that means to our social, political, economic, and spiritual well being. We must educate and inform the country willingly or unwillingly through protest and public venture. That is what the Democrats have understood that Republicans seem to have missed.

5. Help the Republican party get back to its roots. We can no longer afford to follow moderates and elect them to represent us. The New Wave of Republican Elected Officials must be staunch conservatives, as equally free market as they are pro-life, vehemently strong in their foreign policies, and not afraid of liberal criticism. We need smart, savvy, gifted orators with clean histories and conservative values.

6. Reach out to children. It is the failure of our society to teach our children basic morals and values that has produced a generation absorbed in themselves. While the youth vote didn’t radically increase like predicted, it did overwhelmingly vote for Obama, handing him the election. Unfortunately, this falls in with number 3 in that these youngsters have absolutely no idea what is going on in this country and are media addicts, doing whatever Oprah or the girls on The View tell them to do. The failure of parenting, neighborly intervention, and the education system can no longer be allowed to continue. If half of the “politically uneducated” youngsters who voted for Obama had parents who taught them about politics, half of them probably would have still voted for Obama, but half of them probably would have voted for McCain, which could have given him the big V.

7. Demand that our churches become more vocal about abortion, gay marriage, and other social issues. For some reason the church seems to be scared of the mighty IRS, yet Mr. Pfleger (as a Roman Catholic I refuse to give the man any ordained title) can rhapsodize about ole’ Hillary and her imagined pseudo-racist agenda without a word from the IRS (not to stick up for her, but the man clearly called her a racist and there was no evidence to support any such accusation  and in fact plenty of evidence to support the opposite). Our churches need to make it clear that they will not be intimidated by taxation, and that they will tend their flocks by divine law, not secular law. Our Christian leaders must be clear in naming those they denounce, mostly due to the same reasons I proposed in numbers 3 and 6.

8. Seek out other conservatives and actively recruit them. Do you know a libertarian? Recruit them into the Republican party. How about those Democrats who consistently say, “I didn’t leave the party, it left me.” Well, we need to convince them their party is gone, it’s not coming back, and it’s time they found a new one. The election of a radically left president should be all the ammunition we need to convince these moderate Democrats that the party they knew and loved is dead.

9. Learn more about economics, foreign policy, and history. This is important. I got four people who were going to vote for Obama to either vote for McCain or not vote at all based on their general ignorance of how government works. If we can get a Republican party full of experts on these three subjects, we can make a dent. The need for knowledge of economics and foreign policy is obvious, but we need to know history too. Most things that happen in the world have happened in a way before. Knowing history also is knowing about the factions throughout history. The single reason that Democrats can easily laugh off attempts to label them as socialists or even Communists is because most Americans don’t know what makes either group up. If we are informed, we can inform, and the more informed we are, the more credible we look when we inform. Take a college class in history, political science, or economics. It will give you a background to use when talking to people.

10. Stay positive. Throughout the grueling next four years, we need to stay positive. It is not our ability to defame the opposition through general hate-mongering backed up by little evidence that gets us the win (though a little spirited competition might have been just what McCain needed to prevail), but rather our ability to come through when things are most dire. In the next 4 years, while the Democrats have our country in shambles, we need to be positive and be ready for action. We need to spread truth, not attack the opposition. That doesn’t mean we can’t be forceful and resolute in our spreading of the truth, but negative attacks have been the domain of zealous left-wingers for a reason; they are selfish, greedy fanatics who don’t care about the truth or anyone else’s point of view. However, the truth coupled with power makes those zealots look infantile and bitter.

It is my sincere belief that if we can follow these ten principals, we will be in a better position to attack the liberal hate machine and bleed the liberal fund machine next go around. And we can’t be waiting for the next presidential election; we need to start in 2 years. In fact, if this were a top 11 list, number one would be get out and vote. I’m sure most of you reading this know to always vote, but you must get those conservative friends of yours who have the 4-year-voting blinders on to vote for their senatorial and congressional candidates. We can return to power my friends!
